Omolayo Ajoke OMORINOYE is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Geology and Mineral Sciences, Faculty of Physical Sciences, University of Ilorin, with over 10 years university teaching, research and administrative experience.
She obtained her B.Sc. (Hons.) in Geology and M.Sc. in Geology (Solid Mineral Exploration option) (Ilorin) and Ph.D. in Geochemistry (Sarawak). Her area of specialization is Geochemistry and Mineral Exploration with many journal articles in outlets within and outside Nigeria. Her research area covers study of mineralization potential of geologic sites via rocks, streams and soils; environmental monitoring of potentially toxic elements; remediation and management of polluted sites as well as economic geology.
Dr. Omorinoye has attended many conferences, trainings and workshops on geosciences and environmental management. She is also a recipient of different awards and scholarship including Departmental Prize for Best Overall Student 2007/2008 session, University of Ilorin and UNIMAS Zamalah Graduate Scholarship (ZSU) Award 2016, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Malaysia.
She is a member of local and international professional associations such as Nigeria Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS), Council of Nigerian Mining Engineers and Geoscientists (COMEG) and Society of Environmental Geochemistry and Health (SEGH).
